The Beginning
My love for H.I.M began a long time ago even before I was created, Who would have known that something so trivial in commercial Mainstream would have grown as huge as a supernova and still evolves to this day.Well for my "four fathers" This journey Began with rhythmic poetry in the Form of what we call Hip Hop an urban artistic expression or view of our communities, life, and surroundings...
1979 Was a big year for the urban community coming out of the soul and disco era Music needed new life, a fresh breathe of air so to speak and just when we thought music couldn't evolve a certain "Rappers Delight" Rang through our speakers & moved our feet to something so new, so creative, so FUNKY! The Sugar Hill gang brought this innovative new sound to the fore-front although very controversial this new-found movement became something for US! to claim. Through the years Hip Hop has changed so much with rising stars such as Nicki minaj, Travis Porter, Whiz Kahlifa, Drake and many others we often forget where this Movement started so lets take a brief trip back to the beginning when it was all about the DJ,The Mc, and the Breakers......
For me hearing stories about the Infamous Rock Steady crew sparked my curiosity of this Movement coming from the Bronx who didn't hear or watch the break dancers stand on the corners,In the parks or where ever they could lay their cardboard stage to showcase these tricks and dance moves that some of us stood in our living rooms practicing for hours on end...Feeling Nostalgic? Good Remember when you first heard Chief rocker busy bee in the battle against the Bad boy of Rap kool Moe Dee that tape was the hardest to get luckily for me while ravaging through my Big sister's boxes of things she was getting rid of back in 1994 I 5 year old me found a cassette tape that read on the lable busy bee Vs. kool moe dee 1982 and since i was so young i didn't know who they were i popped it into my moms cassette player and the sounds i heard interested me I'll never forget trying to Immolate these 2 people that were spittin' incase you do not know what I speak of let me give u a piece of history press play on the above link and you will definitely understand what I am talking about.See My ears First heard the late great Mahalia Jackson and artists such as Ruth Brown Aretha,Patti, Millie Jackson, The Jackson Five Rick James the Gap band and artist of that nature so to me growing up listening to Hip Hop R&B and Classic soul I was no stranger to those sounds. As I got older I became fans of people like Kurtis blow the get fresh crew, Dana Dane, slick rick, LL cool J tupac,Biggie Lil' Kim and so many more...growing up in the 90's brought me a new perspective of what my older siblings and family member's would play in the household this opened the door of my creativity... feeling like I can convey an emotion where others could feel & be no stranger to that emotion, sparked a light bulb for me. This Explains without words my love For music not just for any music but for Our Music Our Movement Our Expression Hip Hop is me if you were to look up identity in the dictionary you would see a picture of with my face next to the word Music! Hip Hop bridges the gap between African drum beats, country and funk it takes you on an eclectic voyage of the mind, evoking the inner creative eye to sounds and rhythms you probably would have never dreamed existed. I once read in an article a while back a statement by someone who I look up to and deem as many do as a Musical Genius said " I don't only hear music my true passion and creativity come from me seeing the sounds" The late Great Micheal Jackson uttered those words and i didn't understand what it was until i fully submersed myself in the history of My peoples Music I saw what people often over looked and that was where we began. To get to mainstream you have to have started somewhere the biggest buzz comes from depths of the the inner city the diamonds in the rough these artist are very often over looked and this is why We started this blog follow us on weekly journey with interviews and Vid clips,History of unknown & known artist who deserve the spotlight come with my Team Thru The Underground We'll bring everything from Fashion,Night Life to the real reason this blog was started Underground Hip Hop and R&B Until then my friends keep your eyes open cause streets is watching and we're jotting it all down.
